Warrior Weekend 2023: The One That Started It All 🩷🧡

Wow... Warrior Weekend was a VIBE!!!
Honestly? It wasn't even supposed to be a thing. It all started with a conversation between Alex and Mel. We'd both had enough of talking about cancer, living around cancer, and spending our lives in hospital waiting rooms. We just wanted to escape to the countryside for a weekend. Fresh air. Good food. Belly laughs. A chance to remember we were more than just patients.
At some point one of us said...
"Should we see if anyone else from the breast cancer community fancies coming?"
Worst case? A couple of people might say yes.
Well... we couldn't have been more wrong. The response was unbelievable. Everyone wanted to come!!
So we thought... well, we'd better actually organise something then! 🤣
There was no business plan. No funding. No professional retreat company. No fancy wellness schedule. Just a group of women using our friends, families and whatever skills we had between us to create a weekend that sounded fun.
And somehow... that's exactly why it worked!!
One thing we'd noticed was how much seemed to happen around London and the South, while women in the Midlands and the North often felt there were fewer opportunities to connect. So we decided to keep it central, making it as easy as possible for people from all over the UK to join us.
October was simply the only weekend Alex and Mel could both make. It wasn't until afterwards that we saw at the irony... we'd accidentally planned it during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Our itinerary was easy, we just wante to do what we wanted to do.
A sunrise trek. Paddleboarding. A bit of boxing. Some yoga. Lots of chatting. Afternoon Tea. Plenty of prosecco and a hot tub!
By the end of the weekend, strangers had become friends, WhatsApp groups had been created, plans for reunions were already being made, and we all realised something pretty special had happened.
Warrior Weekend wasn't just a weekend away. It was the beginning of our little community.
